Services "Element of Danger (Mstrkrft Remix)"

Breaking boundaries, breaking beats, breaking necks: Services is your desire, and your desire is their business. Lauded for their live shows...an experience not for the weak at heart: in galleries, in rock clubs, in your kitchen, locker rooms...push push: Extreme innovation: past plutonium, past the limits of electro, rock, and industrial. Moment here....not here...here...2 guys/ 2 instruments/ 2 live ...hey, they don't need clichés...they don't have to settle for shit and neither do you. Music is no longer just the guitars/bass and drums formula...It's the EXTRAVAGANZA!!! Fists in the air! So fuck you and your theories 'cause the only allegiance they got is to themselves, the secrets in the shadows of your eyes...and your girlfriend.
Creativity is a blessing. Thank you.
Conceptually rich: banging on drums with knives...people have been trying to do this for years and finally now we have a winner. The record is fly, innovative, and refreshing...and the songs are catchy too! ... no room for discussion...stop... start, stop -I - ll-oo---v - e - e y - y - y - you---ou--- to - to - mmmmmmorow.
NOW! SERVICES - a brand new project from two veterans of the industry, icons of the NYC underground, and "non" personality superstars of their own right brought to you from the label that introduced bands such as Scissor Sisters, The Ones and Waldorf on their ATOC imprint.
Trztn, artist, incendiary thinker, and owner of the idiosyncratic Pinksock Records label, has collaborated with FM Einheit (of Einstuerzende Neubauten fame), Electro Atomu (who Trztn shares another band: Sauna Kings), and German Techno legends Dr.Walker and Khan (Bedroom Productions). He also produced and released The Melted Men's last record, as well as founding and fronting the seminal New York band Flux Information Sciences, whose last record was released on Michael Gira's Young God Records. Flux, whose members included Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, was featured in last years Tribeca Film Festival documentary winner "Kill Your Idols", which tied the No-Wave NYC movement of the early '80's to current trends in music.
Mr. Christopher Pravdica, professional father and slave to the women, was the bass player in The Supreme Dicks, Flux Information Sciences and the Gunga Din (who released 2 records on Jet Set Records). He's worked in the studio with Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), Larry Mullins (Iggy Pop/ Residents), Kid Congo Powers (Cramps/Gun Club) to name a few. Well if people know it then you are pretty fucking cool...good luck - this is about art and dying for it - so get down!
SERVICES have played live with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, Pansonic, Gogol Bordello, Foetus, Lightning Bolt, Liars...the list goes on... Your Desire Is My Business is co-produced and mixed by A Touch Of Class and Roli Mosimann who has produced bands such as The The, Faith No More and New Order.. A Touch Of Class are best known for their production and remix work for bands such as Scissor Sisters, Erasure and Le Tigre.
This debut of Services stays close to their live show performance of smart, stop and go machine-gun fire of beats and sample driven rock played in real time without a sequencer. Tape loops and heavy metal riffs cut-up and rearranged, stripped down and filled with mysterious hooks make their songs witty and powerful with sloganeering lyrics that evoke Dadaism and Surrealism: "You, Me, We: Killer Bees! Take me back to the cemetery where I'm buried - at once!" Their music gear is wielded like a weapon, with shuddering patterns and plenty of vitriolic crunch and rumbling beats that make their music sound fresh beyond boundaries: "The secrets in the shadow of your eyes..."
"The most dynamic band on the planet!"
"New York City destroyers, SERVICES, releases a smart, stop-start machine-gun fire of beats and sample driven rock filled with hooks."
"...finally a band that steps beyond the boundaries..."
"A surprise attack of power electronics packing pop peter pipe a pepper"
George Demure "New Confrontation"

Nice dark disco vibes on this off-kilter track from George Demure, who's been producing stunning electronic music for 10 years. Another winning signing by Tirk.
George Demure "Main Attraction"
Descendant of an infamous Scottish folk singer, George Demure spent 10 busy years at the forefront of Scotland's electronic music scene before moving to London in 2002. Essentially to further pursue his passion for music, this move prompted a rediscovery of his love for guitars as well as discovering his warm and elegant singing voice.
Equally adept behind a bank of drum machines as he is with acoustic guitars and tambourines, George's songs demonstrate an obsessive love of music, from Charlie Feathers to Lee Perry, Throbbing Gristle to Otis Redding - and his ability to weave a very particular lyrical slant in his music owes much to his love of literature.
Having made his live debut supporting Colder at Londons Bush Hall in May 2005, George has attracted a growing number of admirers with live performances at Glastonbury 2005, the Tank Magazine party at the ICA, Koko (Camden Palace), his own spectacular show at Shoreditch's Legion in association with Dummy Magazine, supporting Whitey at the Tank Magazine party at London's ICA as well his various intimate musical evenings at some of London's finer drinking establishments.
George Demure was first featured on Output Recordings Channel 4 Compilation in 2005 with his classic "New Confrontation". His new single, "The Main Attraction", will be released on the 17th of September 2006 on Output Recordings. Look out for George Demure remixes of Spektrum and Freddie Mercury due for release in October 2006.
And Djing? He continues to entertain discerning club goers and pub lovers with his fabulous, unpredictable, highly skilled blend of sound and styles that screams..."I LOVE MUSIC".
Moby "Go (Trentemoller Remix)"

This track, featuring Debbie Harry on vocals, was written and recorded over the summer in Manhattan and is taken from Go – the very best of Moby.
"I enjoyed working with and getting to know Moby while recording New York, New York,” Debbie Harry enthuses. “We both live in the city and l love all the inspiration it's given each of us. Moby has a strong artistic vision, but he was also willing to listen to any suggestions that I had, which made me feel a real part of the song. I hope we can do more in the future.”
The single will be available on two CDs and 12" and will feature mixes by Armand Van Helden and Tocadisco plus a new mix of Moby's classic track Go by Anders Trentemøller.

zero dB "Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines"

Since they started properly working together some 6 years ago,Chris Vogado and Neil Combstock aka Zero dB have been concocting a provocative, innovative and addictive brew of hard jazz, electro, latin, hip hop and house, laced throughout with their now signature dirty, heavy basslines.
After releasing their early records on Vogado’s own Fluid Ounce label, Zero dB are now signed to Ninja Tune and ready to step it up, with their debut album, “Bongos, Bleeps and Basslines”. Their main starting point is usually jazz, but they dip into a multitude of different influences and work with talented musicians and vocalists to create a track. In contrast to the general climate of somewhat old, tired, formulaic and unmemorable dance music, zero dB’s meticulous production forces their audiences to discover previously undeveloped musical places.
“a pomBa girou” kicks off BB&B by combining disorientating echo with ridiculously fat electronic bass stylings and the kind of rhythm designed to get the hips twitching. Title track “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” (spelt beats instead of bleeps on your promo!) eschews the usual “nice” factor inherent in all things proto-jazzy, taking the music’s rhythmic drive and harnessing it to earth-rumbling bass noises and enough squelching and bleeping to fill a large aerodrome with monged-out ravers. “conga madness” is latino-space music, a pummelling, hard-as-nails rhythm. “know what i’m sayin’?” heads in a slower, more hip hop-influenced direction, verbals being beautifully delivered by Pase Rock, sometime member of Five Deez and regular Spank Rock collaborator. “Coisa De Gringo” returns to the production pair’s love of turbocharged, cyber-punk latin, combining – as ever – raw bass with a true musicality which elevates the tune to levels of euphoria it couldn’t manage by use of rhythm alone. Heidi Vogel adds the requisite sweetness, the delicacy of her vocal perfectly offsetting the drive of the music. “anything’s possiBle” is a super-mellow chunk of hip hop that draws on the classic early nineties school of Premier and Pete Rock, the finishing rap touches from New Orleans native Voice, whose cool school styling and thoughtful lyrics place her in the tradition of Bahamadia, Ladybug and What What? “te quiero” builds with all the beautiful self-evidence of classic house music, a variety of influences thrown into the blender in order to produce something pumped up and downright evil enough to blow away any of the froth which usually passes for latin-influenced dance music. “on the one & three” keeps the flick knife hip shimmies going right to the end, where “sunshine lazy” rounds things off in epic style with sweaty, drowsy, hot weather psych-r&b.
The result is hard-edged and exhilarating, a record which is destined never to end up on the Starbucks stereo. Not least because it would blow up the woofers. As brutal as it is sophisticated, “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” is a stand-out work of UK dance music.
“The dancefloor energy of Reprazent, the hallucinatory weirdness of Kieran Hebden and the rubed-raw sleaze of Red Snapper into the brew. A thrilling white-knuckle ride.”

The Killers feat. Toni Halliday "A Great Big Sled"
STEREOGUM.COM: A Christmas song from The Killers! Just today, the band released their charity single to iTunes, in service of Bono's Africa-aiding (RED) campaign. But it's not just charity that's motivated Brandon to pen a yuletide tune. He told MTV:
I think people see us as these kind of coldhearted music machines, and we're really getting tired of that. They want somebody to be (Oasis frontman) Liam Gallagher, or they want someone to be an a**hole, and we're just not that big of a**holes. So I decided (writing a Christmas song) would be a nice way to show people that we've got a sense of humor. And that we weren't complete a**holes.
Oh Brandon nobody thinks your an a**hole! If you wanna hear the song but just can't find it in your heart to give up some money for (RED), head to Hype for a stream. (Seriously, should probably just buy it.) Is it just us, or is this the best Xmas song of the last 20 years?

The Killers "When You Were Young (The Lindbergh Palace Mix)"

The Killers singer Brandon Fraser: If we could make another record like the
first one, then I think it would be successful. But I want to get a producer who
will mess with the parts, somebody with different ideas on how to arrange it.
We've already proven that we can write a perfect pop song, but I admire bands
like the Talking Heads for having hits that are still pop and rock, but out of
the norm.

Blondie v Edison "Heart Of Glass (Electro Disco Mix)"

Positiva Introduces Blondie vs Edison
New floorfiller from the industry’s best label – out December 4th
Renowned for their formidable repertoire, the UK’s biggest dance label Positiva are stepping it up for the Christmas with the biggest track of the season.
They are bringing you the only official remix of Blondie’s ‘Heart Of Glass’ worked over by Edison, aka Andy Chatterley.
Andy Chatterly is also known to dance aficionados as the Droyds, Demeter, EVE3000 or one half of the Buick Project and Skylark with Nic Fancuili. He’s made his mark throughout the 90s and 00s and is behind up and coming bands, Deaf Stereo, Motormark and Blondelle.
He’s given the Blondie classic a contemporary edge, with even the video being recut for 2006. Meanwhile, other mixes include a dub mix for deeper floors, the Electro Disco retake and a stunning remix courtesy of Soul Avengerz’ Quattro guise.
Of course, ‘Heart Of Glass’ needs little introduction. Blondie’s seminal track epitomized the disco era and its stats speak for themselves: it was a UK and a US No.1 single in 1979, selling over a million copies in the UK alone.
The track arrives on 4th December, just in time for Christmas parties.
